Blog Four
Mitchell Sanders here on my last blog update. i remember stopping halfway down the feild with my eyes shut i feel a filthy green rutsack heavy with mud and water. the other men did not speak for a time. inside the bag was a pair of moccasins and a bible. We searched for the body which we soon found then we moved on.

I cant believe that kiowa had to go like that. I mean what a shitty way to die. The squad is taking it like we always do but it really does things to you, makes you think about why your here and what the hell your fighting for. Ill remember before he died kiowa had said not to mess with churches, but as i recall we did anyways. The troop morns as we continue or duties.

"Mitchell Sanders was right. For the common soilder,at least, war has the feel-the spiritual texture-of a great ghostly fog, thick and permanant. There is no clarity. Everything swirls. The old rules are nop longer binding, the old truths no longer true. Right spills over into wrong. order blends into chaos, love into hate, ugliness into beauty, law into anarchy, civility into savagery. The vapors suck you in. You can't tell where you are, or why you're there, and the only certainty is overwhelming ambiduity." As Mitchell Sanders im going to always remember Dave Jensen singing "lemon tree" as we cleaned the recently deceased Curt Lemon's remains off the tree. The gore stays with me.

Blog One
We just got here and Ted Lavender's already dead. Humping through nothing but dense jungle and patty fields, with your occasional tunnel sysytem here and there. I remember sitting peacefully in the shade of an old banyan tree. I was using my thimbnail to pry off the body lice, working slowly, carefully depositing the lice in a blue USO envelope. My eyes were heavy, and after an hour er so I sealed the envelope, wrote free on it in the upper right hand corner. I addresed it to my draft board in Ohio. My arms a little soar from loading boxes of C-rations with lee strunk. The other day i told one of my comrads that story i made most of up. you're pinned down in some filthy hellhole of a paddy, getting your ass delivered to kingdom come, but then for a few seconds everything goes quiet and you look up and see the sun and a few puffy white clouds, and the immense serenity flashes against your eyeballs--the whole world gets rearranged--and even though you're pinned down a war you never felt more at peace.
